Clean hotel, pretty grounds . Didn't eat any meals as £11 is a bit much for breakfast. Also didn't use the bar as other reviews say it is extortionate. Beds very comfy and TV in every room. If you get a room near the road you won't be able to sleep with the window open. Enjoyed our stay.
Wine tasting with Pieroth. Nice place. Staff lovely. The event room needs some maintenance, but nothing drastic. Will go again.

Boroughbridge Rd, York YO26 6PR, UK – 01904 781141
Good selection of freshly cooked food including sandwiches and soup. The steak and Guinness pudding was excellent. Very generous portions. All served in a lovely bar / restaurant with a good choice of beers wines and spirits. Will return.
Stayed for 1 night, room was clean and tidy with plenty of space and comfy queen size bed. Food lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful. It is next to a busy road so there was quite a bit of traffic noise, but we knew that when we booked.

Roman Rd, Near Hessay, York YO26 8JU, UK – 01904 738206
Excellent host, comfortable and nice room with a small lounge area. Excellent breakfast. Wish I had my fishing gear with me. Lake looks great.
We had a lovely stay at The Willows, comfy bed, beautiful view of the lake and wild life. Our host was attentive, and friendly offering advice about the area. Breakfast was very tasty with double yolker eggs, and filled us up for the rest of the day. After reading some of the negative reviews I feel I want to say, yes we were asked to remove our shoes, but this was perfectly acceptable because this was someones home and we were guests in it, plus I always take my slippers !!!! Yes we did eat on the landing but with beautiful views and this meant we were away from the family giving them and us privacy. We weren't in their "space" or indeed them in ours. And just to finish we have already recommended The Willows and will be returning. Thank You

A very welcoming b & b. Accomodation excellent and breakfast also excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend this place, even a lovely garden to sit in if the weather permits.
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
Grantchester/Stripe Lane, York YO30 1YJ, UK – 07472 694380
A little tricky to find, but a great little site. Facilities are ideal for short or overnight stays - it helps that it was sunny when we camped, so everything was scenic and clean. My daughter, wife and I were very pleased with how tidy, well presented and convenient it was for local food, etc. Will definitely be going back soon. The owners were lovely, very approachable and helpful. Highly recommended for small families, tents and vans.
Great little campsite for motor homes, tents and caravans just outside of York. The toilets and shower are all clean but aren't separated by gender (it's a unisex building). Electricity costs are a bit steep, at £4, but otherwise the camping prices are, given that it's just a 15 minute bike to York's city centre, completely fair. The camping does have a limit of 4 motor homes or buses (a permit thing) and I'd therefore recommend you'd phone ahead if you're running a bit late.
Acomb Grange, Grange Ln, York YO23 3QZ, UK – 01904 797387
Perfect little quiet site near the city centre. Easy to find and get to. 10 minute walk from bus stop then a 15 min journey to town (or £10 in a taxi) facilities basic but clean and tidy. Would return again when visiting York.
Just what you need. Quiet, charming, close to York.
Millfield Ln, Nether Poppleton, York YO26 6NX, UK – 01904 784306
Great small site. Bus to York across the road. Easy cycle routes around the area and into York as well. Friendly owners. Fast wifi.
Thanks for another relaxing stay. Will look forward to our next visit.
